pokemon touring!

Okay, so at first my own kid thought I was a moron for dragging him around as we went to pokestops. But our family discovered something amazing on the way...actually many amazing things.  When you go to the pokestops, by foot or tire, you find some interesting things. I was hoping to post photos, but I will have to give you links, as I can't seem to access our pictures probably due to the very poor wifi connection I have.

We discovered some interesting artwork and monuments in cemeteries. We discovered that Charlevoix MI has one of the most amazing and beautiful libraries I have ever seen. Mrs. ProfPalmTree is also a librarian, and she was blown away by it.

We also discovered some of the incredible "mushroom" houses of Charlevoix. So parents, if you are trying to justify #pokestops by #pokemontouring, or kids, vice versa, just point out to them the great things you can see when you get out and play with PokemonGo.

These images were sourced off the net. I do not make any money off this site, but if a reader has a problem with me posting these, let me know and I will pull them off.

Some tips for PokemonGO

All righty then... here are some basic tips for you as you are playing pokemonGO.

When you are looking for Pokemon, this graphic (from the PokemonGO news) will give you some tips to help you find it. Beware, this may have you up in someone's yard. If you engage in "Pokemoncreeping" in someone's yard too long you may have to deal with a dog, or possibly the police. Fortunately I still run pretty fast.

When attacking Pokemon, hold the ball down, and you will see either a yellow or a green circle shrinking within a white target circle. Keep holding and it will refill the white target circle. The bigger the green or yellow circle the better chance of a solid hit. Be ready and stop moving when you are throwing balls. If the Pokemon breaks out, and you keep moving, you stand a greater chance of losing your Pokemon.

When you are leveling up, you will get gear. If you get discouraged catching pokemon, soon you will get a free sample of Razz Berry.  When you are going to catch a difficult pokemon, open the backpack icon which appears on the same screen as the pokemon. Get out the Razz Berry by clicking on it. A sparkle effect will hit the pokemon. He will now be much easier to take.

Get to level 5! Persevere! Then join a team (there are three) by going to a gym.

Have fun!

Foiled, but yet...

Once again, foiled by troubles with server issues on my trip into town today. But I did get a drop of some incense, and was able to use it for about 20 minutes when hanging around two gyms on the East Bay of Traverse City.  I picked up a nice Evee a Fearow, and a Clefairy.

My Jigglypuff endured for most of the day at the Acme post office gym. But I noted this evening that it got booted.  I did fight at two gyms, booting the Beedrill from Acme post office, but after beating a Pidgeotto at Central United Methodist, I could not beat the second pokemon. Mine were already too banged up.

I am wondering if you can apply the healing potions while in a fight. I am also wondering if there are other things to do in a battle besides the occasional dodge and relentlessly tapping the screen. How do you use the more powerful abilities of the Pokemon?

Still have not evolved anybody. A Rattata will probably be the first!

Starting My PokemonGo Journey

Wow! I know most of you probably have gone way beyond me so far, but I have to admit I love this new game!  This is the most fun I have had exercising in ages. I have walked several miles, and caught several pokemon. And I am on vacation so I am not done yet!

I am glad they seem to have worked out some of the server issues. I missed a number of opportunities today due to server issues. But things seem to be improving rapidly.

Among other things, so far I have seen two Dratini (just missed on one), and have caught Zubat, Krabby, even several of the Nidoran family, and Drowzee.  My starter is Charmander. Love that little guy!
